Johnson County is located in East Tennessee. We are the first county to see the sunrise in Tennessee, and once was known for being the “Green Bean Capital of the World”.
There are many festivals held here – the Sunflower Festival, Cranberry Festival and a Long Journey Home that celebrates the rich musical heritage here. The county seat is Mountain City, TN. Johnson County has a population of 16,417 in 2019 with 303 square miles. There are many smaller communities throughout the county including Shady Valley, Laurel Bloomery, Trade, Forge Creek, Neva, Butler and Doe.
